Hey Duggee

For the last 10 years I’ve been working on a show I created with StudioAKA and the BBC called Hey Duggee. It’s been a lot of fun.

At nearly 200 episodes the show is now broadcast around the world. Below is the original line up of characters, some of which didn’t make the final cut.

In 2020 the Design Museum put on an exhibition called Designing Duggee. A dive into the creative process of making the show - the first time a children’s series has been given that honour. To say I was thrilled was an understatement.

The closest I’ll ever get to being Jim Henson. With Executive Producer Sue Goffe and the wonderful cast and puppets of The Hey Duggee Live Theatre Show. It was brought to life by director Mathew Xia and musical arranger and supervisor Vikki Stone, winning them a well deserved Olivier award in 2023.

The credit list for this show is monumental - so I’ll just name check a few people who have been involved from the start -

Sue Goffe (Executive Producer) / Janine Voong (Producer) / Sander Jones (Assistant Director and latterly Co-Director) / Ross Phillips (a truly fantastic designer who we were blessed to have working with us) / Phillip Warner (single -handedly doing ALL the animatics and storyboards) / Jenny Landreth (Script Editor) / Anna Kubik (Editor) / Tin Sounds (who have done pretty much all our music) / Jungle Sounds (Voice Recording) / Fonic (Sound Design & Mixing) Gideon Rigal, Simon Bancroft, Malcolm Mole, Mick Lawrence, Lior Wolff-Epshtein (Animators) + all the other animators, designers, voice over artists and scriptwriters that have graced us with their talents.

As well as directing 196 episodes of the show, I’ve recently developed a spin off called Hey Duggee’s Squirrel Club. It will be based around a magazine style format that will make use of a lot of our regular and secondary characters. As with Hey Duggee, it will be produced by StudioAKA
